COTTONWOOD -- The man who has been charged in the "facilitation" of animal abuse in the killing of the pit bull "Buddy" will also face pending charges in Eastern Arizona. Cottonwood Police Sergeant Gareth Braxton-Johnson explained that there is not enough evidence to show that Mark Donald Arneson, the dog's owner, actually pulled the trigger putting two rounds in Buddy's skull, but he clearly placed the dog in harm's way, if, in fact, he gave the dog to another man, as he claims.

A free electronics waste recycling event at Cottonwood's public works yard last Saturday had an overwhelming turnout as 416 vehicles turned in nearly 18 tons of discarded material to be recycled.

A 77-year-old woman is thought to have over-corrected her Buick while driving near the top of the Cornville Road switchbacks early Friday morning. The vehicle rolled-over one time landing on its roof. Verde Valley Fire crews say the woman needed to be extricated. She was thrown into the back seat of the car and was face down.
